ACTING OUT!

What is it?

An upcoming party game, engaging players in acting and reading lines in order to score on their acting abilities. The game objective is to score points on one’s ability to act, improvise, and adapt to the situation no matter how crazy!

Is it made just for actors?

Not at all! This game invites players of any and all levels of experience of both party games and acting. The game is designed with many different (adult) age groups in mind!

What are the game elements?

An assortment of both game cards—which are the interactive “Improv” and “Ad-Lib” cards, hand-written acting scenes, and—last but no least—the undeniable talent of the players participating! The game mechanics will be simple enough to understand quickly, but the depth of gameplay can evolve through the players’ own intuition!

Is it an online game? Or in-person?

Currently, there is no online support for the game…yet! That may be perhaps the next step in evolution. As our world becomes ever so progressive with advances to communication and technology, there is a huge opportunity for players to possibly use services like Zoom® and Microsoft Teams ®. For now, the game remains a physical one, intended to be played in-person.

How is the game being developed?

I, the developer, develop the core game mechanics and actor scenes, and then invite groups of play testers to come and put the game mechanics and scenes to the test. In order to make sure the game’s variables can be put under pressure, I evaluate the individual experiences from multiple types of testers, whether they are experienced games or not, and how they interact with a game that uses acting and performing arts. So far, the reception to the core game itself has been positive, but the integration of the Improv and Ad-Lib game cards will take more time to become fully realize their potential.

When is the game expected to release?

My best estimate would be Spring 2026 at earliest. Since I am rather new to the game development side as a whole, this concept will take several more months to be ready in its current development cycle.
